Backyard Bed Transformation with Stone & Creeping Thyme in Charlotte, NC
Creating a clean, functional, and eye-catching landscape often comes down to the details. Recently, Greenworx180 completed a custom project in Charlotte, NC, focused on enhancing a back bed along the fence line. This transformation included careful preparation, thoughtful planting, and the installation of polished stone for a modern, low-maintenance finish.
Project Details
The goal for this project was to give the back bed a refreshed look while preserving the creeping thyme that had already been established. Our process included careful removal of outdated materials and installation of new elements for long-term durability and appeal.
Site Prep & Barrier Installation
We began by removing the existing netting and seed, then laid down a weed barrier to ensure lasting protection against unwanted growth. Because creeping thyme was already installed in select areas, we carefully cut around it, keeping the plant healthy and intact. For the paver section, the barrier was cut out and secured with staples to maintain proper fit and stability.
Planting & Stone Work
Once the barrier was in place, we installed additional creeping thyme to fill the gaps and create a consistent, lush look across the bed. To complete the transformation, we delivered and installed 1 ton of black polished stone from SiteOne, which provided a sleek, modern finish. An additional ½ ton of stone was added later to ensure the area was fully covered and visually balanced.
Why This Project Stands Out
This back bed project showcases how thoughtful landscaping can transform even smaller, overlooked areas into highlights of the property. By combining natural groundcover like creeping thyme with durable black polished stone, the design offers both aesthetic beauty and practical weed resistance.
The Result
The finished bed now serves as a clean, low-maintenance border along the fence, with polished stone contrasting against the greenery of creeping thyme. The space not only looks refreshed but is also easier to maintain—giving the homeowners long-term value and curb appeal.
